Weekly Practice Plan - ACC League/90Ft.

Arrival - If kids are early give them extra swings (cages, wiffles, etc) DO NOT THROW!

Drills
Week 1 -- "Learn the Koa Code" Infield & Outfield Positional Focus - WRITE THE LINE UP Choose From: walk the pitch, everyone hustle to their position, back up defenders, cross over step, drop step
Week 2  --  Fundamentals of Pitching & Catching (catchers gear up) Choose From: 4 seam grip, balance point, Cobra 3 man, catcher stance, catchers blocking, catcher 3 ball drill
Week 3  -- Defense: Lead Runner, Double Plays, Bunt Coverages, & Cuts Choose From: relays, DP flips, proper way to tag, hands going forward drill
Week 4  -- Base Running/Stealing: Techniques Choose From: walking, delayed & straight steals, sliding, banana turns, ready position, run down
Week 5  --  Advanced Hitting Choose From: teach hands in a triangle, balance on your back leg, hands above the ball
Week 6  --  Instructional scrimmage/Small Ball Offense and Defense Choose From: 1st and 3rd, bunting, hit and runs, bunt defense, PFP, balks
Week 7 -- Mental Aspects & Mechanics:  Pitching / Catching / Middle Infield / Outfield  Choose From: fingers on top of the ball, Power Position, hips to target
Week 8 -- Advanced Hitting - Balance and Hands Above the Ball Choose From: leg up drill, high tee

Week 3  -- Defense: Mass Ground Balls, and Force Outs Choose From: mass fungos (glove in the dirt), hands going forward, communication
Week 4  -- Base Running/Introduction to Stealing Choose From: straight steals (ball crosses home plate), sliding, banana turns, and ready position
Week 5  --  Mental Aspects & Mechanics: 5 Step Method- Pitching Choose From: Cobra 3 man (kid w/helmet in box, catcher & pitcher) use entire team
Week 6  --  Instructional Scrimmage Choose From: Try kid pitch if team is ready
Week 7 -- Advanced Throwing - Tips to increase velocity Choose From: power-position, fingers on top of the ball, step toward target
Week 8 -- Advanced Hitting Choose From: front toss, focus on balance after the swing
