Travel Baseball

Koa Travel Baseball League

Since its inception, travel baseball has been our heart and soul. It drove us to start the company, and it remains our lifeblood to this day. What makes Koa different? Our all-star coaches? Our administrative support? Our track record of community building and player success? The bottom line is that we care about baseball. We care about seeing our boys develop as athletes and young men.

Professional Coaching & Baseball Staff
The first reason why families invest in Koa Baseball is the quality of our leadership. All of our 30+ coaches have played/coached high school or college baseball. We train in the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Our year-round administration, which includes our CEO, head of player development, and baseball operation staff, offers over 100 combined years of baseball experience. We have invested considerable time on a 10-Year Player Development Plan for Koa Travel Baseball.

Program Specifics
Koa Baseball offers spring, summer (not required), fall, and winter seasons. Included in the program cost: Each fall and spring we schedule between 14-18 games, which are Sunday doubleheaders in the Northern VA Travel League. Frequently Asked Questions

What are the in-season demands for travel baseball players??

All travel baseball teams will practice twice a week and usually play Sunday doubleheaders. If your team will be playing Saturday, Koa will give you ample notice of the change. During the spring the season begins mid March and concludes early June. The fall season will begins late August and end around Halloween. Koa Travel baseball also requires a winter component, these classes will be once a week from late January through early March.

It looks like the tryout registration is the same time as BABL tryouts. What’s the deal?

The top players at the try-out may be selected to play on our travel baseball teams. The next tier of players will be invited to play in our BABL league. If you’d like to play one and not be considered for the other, please indicate that in your registration.

When will we find out if we’ve made the team?

Directly following the try-outs, we’ll start forming teams. All players will be contacted within 7-10 days with a decision either way.

What days are practices going to be?

This varies by team. We’ll relay your team’s practice schedule from the previous season upon request. There is no guarantee that you’ll get the same schedule. If the practice schedule doesn’t mesh with your son’s availability, then we’ll encourage him to attend an alternate practice with another team that’s generally one year older or younger than your team.

Where will the practices be held?

Practices are generally held in the Bethesda area. Koa has an adopt a field agreement with Whitman HS, BCC HS, as well as Carderock ES, we need to wait for the county permits for our other fields.

What if I have to cancel my registration down the road?

If you cancel your registration after the registration close date, you and Koa will need to find a replacement player together. Then we’ll refund you 80% of the program cost in cash. If you cancel your registration after the registration close date and fail to find someone to take your spot, we’ll credit your Koa account with 80% of the cost. Once the season is started, we only issue refunds under extremely extenuating circumstances.

Can I yell and scream and complain about the umpires and fight with other parents?

NO. We’re absolutely committed to making our playing fields a positive environment for everyone to enjoy. This is NOT a league for parents to live through their children or take away from the kids’ experience. It’s about two things: getting better and having fun!
