Weekend Recap of Koa’s Fall Frenzy Tournament!

Weekend Recap of Koa’s Fall Frenzy Tournament!

Koa hosted its first club tournament this past weekend and it was a huge success!  After a chilly week the sun came out and the weather was perfect for a fall field hockey tournament.  Stone Ridge’s campus provided a beautiful location for Koa to host its first club tournament! There were 14 teams total at the tournament, five U12 teams and nine U14 teams.

U12

The U12 team went undefeated for the day and took home first place!! The team had shutouts in each of their four games.  Last week at Potomac’s tournament the U12 Koa team lost to the Rapids in the championship game in shootouts; this week the girls were able to redeem themselves as they beat the Rapids in regular time.  They also beat Metro, New Level Black, and Southeast Storm.

U14 Elite

The U14 Elite team went 2-1-1 beating Next Level Black, and Southeast Storm, tying the Washington Wolves, and dropping the final game of regular pool play to Metro HC 1 – 0.  They finished second in their pool and beat the Potomac Rapids in crossover play to claim third place overall!

U14 White

The U14 White team split 2-2 in regular pool play beating Next Level Black twice and losing to Southeast Storm and the Potomac Rapids in close matches.  The team finished third in their pool.  In crossover games the Koa White girls faced Southeast Storm White but lost to claim sixth place in the tournament.  The U14 White team was at a disadvantage for the day as they did not have any substitutes! Despite playing all day the girls fought until the end and gave 110% effort.

Good job to all of the Koa teams on an impressive appearance at the first Koa club tournament! We would also like to thank Metro HC, Washington Wolves, Next Level, Potomac Rapids, Southeast Storm for sending teams, Stone Ridge for allowing us to use their facilities, the coaches for being enthusiastic, and all of the athletes and their parents for making this tournament awesome!
