BABL Recap Week – 4

Another great weekend for some Koa baseball with awesome weather and close match ups!

 

BABL A: 

Lugnuts vs. Bees

Bees fall to the Lugnuts 15-4. Henry D. came in relief for the Bees and shut things down with 7 strikeouts as the Bees tried to make a comeback. The bats stayed hot all game for the Bees. Lugnuts were led by great pitching throughout the game with a couple of bases clearing doubles from Graydon D. and Rafi D. Zain S. closed out the game with two innings of great pitching, assisted by two clutch fly outs to Tim G.

Riverdogs vs. Hot Rods

Riverdogs defeated the Hot Rods 13-7. Despite the lost, Hot Rods offense improved from the previous 2 games, totaling 7 hits. Erick B. and Caleb S. both had a pair of hits. Caleb S. came in and pitched the last inning for the Hot Rods and did a great job. The Riverdogs had a great team effort as 3 pitchers, Franklyn B., Topher T., and Daniel P. all threw great innings. The bats were hot for the Riverdogs as Warren (Mack) W. had a 3 RBI double, Jake S. had a triple, and Theo L. had a 2 XBH.

BABL AA: 

Drillers vs. Lookouts

Lookouts beat the Drillers 15-9. Jake R. started on the mound for the Lookouts going 4 innings and allowing only 1 run. Jake R. also lead the team offensively driving in 5 total runs with 6SB. The Drillers were not able to dig themselves out of 7-0 deficit. However, the bats woke up in the 4th and 5th as the Drillers fought back cutting it to a close 10-7 game but it was not enough.

Lookouts Player of the Game: Jake R. 

 

Bay Sox vs. Biscuits

Bay Sox buttered the Biscuits 5-4. Bay Sox took the lead in the first behind RBIs from Taisei K. and Sean B. Taisei K. started on the mound for the Bay Sox. In the bottom half of the 4th, Sean B. stroked an RBI 3B, and later came around to score to take the lead 5-3. Connor M. pitched three great innings for the Biscuits with 6 strikeouts. Connor M., Jason P., and Evan P. had great clutch hits for the Biscuits but it was not enough to take the lead. Kei K. from the Bay Sox came on the mound in the 5th for the save and finished off the win.

Thunder vs. Bay Sox

Bay Sox lost their second game of the day to the Thunder 11-7. Thunder hitting was lead by Grady O., Everett C., Jude B., and Ethan H. Cameron D. started on the mound for the Thunder and pitched a great game with Thomas S. and Ryan S. coming in for relief. Sean B. started on the mound for the Bay Sox with Isaac M. and Oliver H. coming in for relief. With the score 9-1 Thunder up, the Bay Sox mounted a comeback in the bottom of the 4th with 6 runs on hits from Stewart A., Oliver H., and Jack A. Kei K. took the mound for the Bay Sox in the top of the 5th striking out the first two hitters, however the comeback ended there as the Thunder went on to win 11-7. Ryan S.

BABL AAA: 

Iron Pigs vs. Tides

Tides defeated the Iron Pigs 17-10 in a back and forth game. Tides were lead by Jordan H., Samuel E., and Ben E. all with 2 hits and got on base every time at bat. Nathan M. led the way for the Iron Pigs going 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs.

Bulls vs. Tides

The Bulls seized victory 9-8 in dramatic walk-off fashion. The game was tied at 8 with the Bulls bating in the bottom of the 7th when Charlie R. singled on a 3-2 count, scoring the winning run. Zachary B. started on the mound for the Bulls. He surrendered 2 runs on 4 hits over three innings, striking out 4 and walking 0. Luke P. and Charlie R. entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. The Bulls racked up 12 hits with Charlie R., Robert D., and Will M. each will multiple hits. Zachary B. led the way for the Bulls with four stolen bases. For the Tides, Brayden R. and Eddie C. pitched a great game and got 3 hits at the plate each.

Red Wings vs. Mud Hens

Mud Hens lost to the Red Wings 8-1. Brenden N. drove in the only run of the game for the Mud Hens in the 1st inning. Noah S. pitched a great game for the Mud Hens. Henry S. and Luke R. from the Red Wings combined to shut down the Mud Hens on the mound. Henry S. allowed just 1 run over 4 innings with a pitch count under 60. Bats were quiet most of the game for the Red Wings but the aggressive and smart base running got them the win.
