BABL Week 8 Recap

Congratulations to our BABL League Champions: Legends (BABL A), Bay Sox (BABL AA), Bulls (BABL AAA)

 

BABL A:

 

Hot Rods vs. Bees (Wild Card Game)

It was a close game under the lights on Friday, but the Bees came out on top 5-2 to move on to the semifinals. The Hot Rods were leading after four innings of play 2-1. Erick B. started on the mound for the Hot Rods and pitched 3 innings only giving up 1 run and striking out 6. Jake H. came in for relief and pitched a scoreless fourth inning for the Hot Rods. However, in the last inning of play the Bees put their rally caps on and were about to score 4 runs bringing the game to 5-2. Andrew B. started on the mound for the Bees and Max F. came in for relief to shut to the Hot Rods down for the save. Max F. also drove in 2 runs after a bases-loaded walk for insurance runs for the Bees.

Bees vs. Legends (Semifinal)

Legends defeated the Bees 18-2 to advance to the championship. Henry B. pitched 3 great innings for the Bees to keep it close in the beginning. Bees got ahead 2-1 but the Legends put together good AB’s in the 3rd to go up 7-2 and not looking back in the 4th, the Legends put the game away. Shout out to Max R. from the Legends with a big 2 RBI double to give the Legends the lead and start the momentum for the Legends.

Riverdogs vs. Lugnuts (Semifinal)

Riverdogs win 12-6 in the semifinal game. Despite the Lugnuts great pitching, the could not top of the Riverdog as their lineup was too quiet this time around.. Zain S. pitched great to close out of the season for the Lugnuts. Riverdogs had a great pitching performance by Topher T. and Daniel P. Paul T. added 3 more RBIs to his season and Daniel P. had 3 great hits. Riverdogs had a great time win to bring them to their second championship appearance in a row.

Riverdogs vs. Legends (BABL A Championship)

 

Legends defeated the Riverdogs 14-2 in the championship game! Pitching and hitting carried the Legends from the 1st inning throughout the whole game. Nick G. started on the mound for the Legends and cruised through the first 3 innings handing it over to Eric F. who battled through 2 innings. Adam K. came on to close the last inning for the Legends. Nick H. went 2-2 from the plate with 2 RBI’s and a double. Shout out toWarren (Mack) W. who pitched his heart on his sleeve for 3 innings for the Riverdogs. Congratulations to the Legends for becoming the 2019 Fall BABL A Championships.

BABL AA:

 

Lookouts vs. Thunder (Wild Card Game)

Lookouts topped Thunder in the wildcard game, 5-4. Ryan S. started for Thunder getting a 1-2-3 top of the 1st and continued to pitch a great game. Thunders bats were lead by Grady O. The Rubin twins dominated on the mound for the Lookouts. Zach J. closed the door for the Lookouts with two huge strikeouts to end the game. Shout out to Joe L. for the Lookouts who had one of his best games at the plate!

Drillers vs. Biscuits (Semifinal)

Biscuits defeated the Drillers 10-3 to move on to the championship game. Connor M. started on the mound for the Biscuits and only allowed one 1 run, striking out 6. Evan P. and Jason P. from the Biscuits bats were hot as they both hit triples in the game and each had a pair of RBIs. The Biscuits bats were also led by Drew L. and Connor M. Evan P. came on the mound to finish the last 2 innings of the game for the Biscuits. Ian L. started on the mound for the Drillers and pitched a great game with help from Luke S. and Lucas T. Ben H. came in for relief and pitched well! Shout out to Miles U. from the Drillers for catching the whole game and making some great plays along with some good hits.

Lookouts vs. Bay Sox (Semifinal) 

Bay Sox defeated the Lookouts 5-3 to move on to the championship game. Bay Sox jumped out to a 5-1 behind hits from Oliver H., Jack A., and Taisei K. Taisei K. started on the mound for the Bay Sox and pitched 3 great innings. Kei K. came in to close the game’s final 2 innings for Bay Sox. John W. started on the mound for the Lookouts and pitched a great game to keep the game close. Charlie T. and Joe L. dominated at the plate for the Lookouts.

Biscuits vs. Bay Sox (Championship)

Bay Sox defeated the the Biscuits, 8-7, to bring home the AA league championship title. Biscuits were down 7-0 going into the top, when they put their rally caps on and tied it up 7-7. Biscuits bats came alive scoring 4 runs before Evan P. came up to the plate and hit a 3 run home run to tie it up. In the bottom of the 6th with 1 out, the Bay Sox got a runner on first then stole second and third. Taisei K. hit the walk off run on a ground ball to bring home the winning run for the Bay Sox.

BABL AAA

 

Iron Pigs vs. Mud Hens (Wild Card Game)

Mud Hens defeated the Iron Pigs 13-7 to move on to the semifinals. Dorian S. and Matt H. both pitched a good game for the Iron Pigs, but the Mud Hens bats were hot from the start, bringing in the runs they needed. Aaron W. pitched a great game for the Mud Hens and had 5 RBI’s to top that off. Brendan R. led the team offensively for the Iron Pigs with a big 2 RBI double.

Mud Hens vs. Red Wings (Semifinal)

Red Wings defeated the Mud Hens 8-5 in the semifinal playoff game. Luke R. gutted out 5 innings on the mound for the Red Wings. Ryan Y. and Justin G. had great hits and key RBIs for the Red Wings to bring home the victory. Noah S. started on the mound for the Mud Hens and Brenden N. came in for relief and pitched 5 great innings, only letting up 3 runs (2 unearned). Brenden N. also had some great hits going 2-3 at the plate!

Tides vs. Bulls (Semifinal) 

Bulls beat the Tides 8-5 to advance to the championship. Bulls opened up scoring in the first inning, when Bobby B. signed on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Bulls bats got hot in the 6th inning when they brought home 4 runs with Robert D., Luke P., and Kevin Z. all contributing in the big inning with RBIs. Zachary B. got the start on the mound for the Bulls. He allowed 1 hit and 1 run over 4 innings, striking out 7. It was a team effort win for the Bulls as the Bulls store up the base paths and did not commit a single error in the field. Although the Tides had a rocky first inning, Michael K. pitched 5 great innings, getting 8 strikeouts. Billy M. lead the tides offensively with 2 hits and 3 RBIs.

Bulls vs. Red Wings

Bulls defeated the Red Wings 16-3 on to bring home the championship. 5 runs batted in from Will M. helped lead the Bulls to their win. Will M. went 3-3 at the plate to lead the Bulls in hits. Bulls notched 7 runs in the fifth innings with their bats led by Charlie R., Robert D., Will M., Kevin Z., and Jacob K who each had RBI’s in the inning. Luke P. pitched 3 great innings for the Bulls, allowing only two hits and striking out three. Bobby B. came in for relief and recorded the last 7 outs to earn the save for the Bulls. The Bulls ran wild on the base paths with 12 stolen bases. Congratulations to the Bulls for becoming the 2019 Fall BABL AAA Championships.
