December 2019 Newsletter- Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! 2019 and this entire decade were an amazing journey for me & Koa Sports. This year brought Koa so much joy, from a first-time 4-year-old summer camper or Future Star participant to placing athletes into college programs. We are passionate about our mission Shaping Kids’ Lives Through Sports (and helping each child reach their full potential); here’s a detailed 1 pager on what our mission means to me.
2020 marks Koa’s 10th year being a community organizer and the 15th year I have been a coach/trainer/administrator. I have seen Koa grow from 1 sport with an office in my basement, to a real office with training turf, and now into our state of the art facility. I can’t wait to see what the next decade brings. We have big plans, more to come in future newsletters.
Here are 3 of my favorite articles from 2019:

Josh Davis Spirit Award:
Congratulations to our 2019 Josh Davis Award Winners!
Josh Davis, an avid baseball player and participant in many Koa programs, tragically passed away at the age of 15 due to an accident while riding his bike. During his time with Koa, Josh embodied many of the traits we look to cultivate, develop, and instill in Koa athletes throughout all of our programs.
These traits include:
· Hard work
· Coping with adversity, and
· Having FUN through sports
Like many kids who participate in Koa activities, Josh was a good athlete, but not necessarily great or naturally gifted. All of us who coached or played with him recognized and learned from him that there is much more to be gained from sports than just watching a gifted person play.
Thank you all for voting Koa Sports Best of Bethesda 2019!
