January 2019 Newsletter!
I hope everyone is off to an amazing start to their year. I trust everyone is keeping up with their New Year Resolutions, these goals are now becoming habits, not a fad. I recently read an article in the Harvard Business Journal talking about how CEOs should spend their time. The article suggests a healthy mix of- interacting with direct reports, chatting with employees, mission, speaking to the media, interfacing with their board, sales, and culture. While there is no perfect time allocation, I am mindful that being an asset and a positive influence is imperative. Mission and culture are two things I’m going to focus on every day at Koa Sports. These will have the biggest impact on our administrators, coaches, and most importantly the kids.
On Tuesday 2/5, I will be sharing my sports journey with our Club Field Hockey Families. I will talk about my recruitment process as a student-athlete (which includes the archaic method mailing of VHS tapes), to transferring colleges, becoming a coach/trainer, and then being an administrator. I’m really looking forward to interacting with these families and helping their daughters in the college recruitment process. Plus, it’s easy to talk about yourself!
I read two great books since the last newsletter:
- Grit by Angela Duckworth
- The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni
Thank you to all for voting Koa Sports Best of Bethesda 2019!
